Chillicothe Gazette: Southeastern joins OhioCheckbook.com

Chillicothe Gazette
September 26, 2017

CHILLICOTHE - The Southeastern Local Schools have become the latest local entity to launch an online checkbook through OhioCheckbook.com.

Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, who launched the OhioCheckbook.com program in December of 2014 to encourage government transparency with its spending, announced Monday that Southeastern had joined the program. A representative of his office was joined in the announcement by Southeastern Superintendent Brian Justice and district board members Mike Pugh, Jeff Stauffer, Dave Hice, Linda Kitchen and Steve Eldridge.

With its decision, Southeastern joins Huntington as the two Ross County school districts thus far to post their individual spending transactions online.

“Southeastern Local School District is happy to partner with the Ohio Treasurer’s office on this cutting edge transparency tool,” said Justice. “The process was very smooth and allows for complete transparency for all transactions.”

On April 7, 2015, Mandel sent a letter to 18,062 local government and school officials representing 3,962 local governments throughout the state calling on them to place their checkbook level data on OhioCheckbook.com and extending an invitation to partner with his office at no cost to local governments. These local governments include cities, counties, townships, schools, library districts and other special districts.
