A representative of Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel announced at the Delaware City Schools board of education meeting Monday night that the district is the first school district in the county to join OhioCheckBook.com.

Ohio Treasurer’s Office Public Affairs Liaison Megan Crall explained that the district digitally turned their financial documents over to the treasurer’s office so they could be uploaded to OhioCheckBook.com, a state-run website dedicated to government transparency.

Crall said 13 Delaware County townships and four villages are already on the site.

“As the first school district in the county to do this, they are truly leaders in transparency,” Crall said. “Hopefully, they’ll set the tone for the other school districts as well.”

Delaware City Schools Treasurer Melissa Lee said the district was proud to be the first on the site.

“As the first school district in the county to launch an Ohio Checkbook site, Delaware City Schools is proud to be a leader in financial transparency,” Lee said Tuesday. “Fiscal responsibility is one of our top priorities as a District, and we are excited to use this tool to demonstrate that to our community. We made the decision to sign on because OhioCheckbook is a great tool for both our staff and community to utilize for questions they might have regarding District spending.”
