Lima News: Harrod joins fiscal accountability website
January 25, 2018
HARROD — The Village of Harrod has joined a bevy of other Allen County municipalities who have submitted their spending information to be seen publicly on the internet at OhioCheckbook.com.
A number of Allen County government organizations — Lima, Elida, Spencerville, American Township, Sugar Creek Township, Shawnee Township and the Allen County Educational Center — already have their information available on the online checkbook. Harrod is the fourth village in Allen County to post its fiscal numbers online, which includes over 3,100 individual transactions representing $736,000 of total spending over the past four years.
“I believe the people of Allen County have a right to know how their tax money is being spent, and I applaud local leaders here for partnering with my office to post the finances on OhioCheckbook.com,” said Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel. “By posting local government spending online, we are empowering taxpayers across Ohio to hold public officials accountable.”
