Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel has announced the launch of the Perrysburg School District's online checkbook on OhioCheckbook.com.
In December 2014, Mandel launched OhioCheckbook.com, which puts all state spending information on the internet. OhioCheckbook.com recently earned Ohio the number one government transparency ranking in the country for the second year in a row, according to a release.
Perrysburg schools is the fourth school district in Wood County to post their spending on the site. Their online checkbook includes over 13,000 individual transactions that represent more than $40 million of total spending over the past three Fiscal Years.
"I believe the people of Wood County have a right to know how their tax money is being spent, and I applaud local leaders here for partnering with my office to post the finances on OhioCheckbook.com," said Mandel in the release. "By posting local government spending online, we are empowering taxpayers across Ohio to hold public officials accountable."
"We're excited to add one more tool our taxpayers can use to learn about our school district," said Perrysburg Treasurer Pam Harrington in the release. "We place a strong emphasis on transparency and this tool makes it very simple for anyone to look up different items and areas to lead to a deeper understanding of how our school district operates. "
OhioCheckbook.com displays more than $644 billion in spending over the past 10 years, including more than 173 million transactions.
