OhioCheckbook.com Adds Five More Local Government Partners
COLUMBUS – Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague today announced the addition of five local government entities to OhioCheckbook.com.
“The Ohio Checkbook allows residents to see how their hard-earned dollars are put to use in their communities," said Treasurer Sprague. “We’re proud to celebrate government transparency and those entities that are providing this interactive window into spending for their residents.”
The following local governments are now featured on OhioCheckbook.com:
- The Village of Aberdeen in Brown County is the county’s fifth village to join OhioCheckbook.com. The village’s online checkbook includes over 33,000 individual transactions that represent nearly $10.5 million.
- Coitsville Township, in Mahoning County, is the tenth township in the county to come aboard OhioCheckbook.com. Coitsville Township’s online checkbook includes 12,000+ transactions and more than $4.5 million in expenditure details.
- Eastern Local Schools, in Pike County, has become the county’s third school district to feature their information on OhioCheckbook.com. The district’s online checkbook includes more than 41,000 individual transactions covering more than $39.6 million.
- The City of Logan is the first city in Hocking County to join OhioCheckbook.com. The city’s online checkbook features over 5,400 individual transactions that represent more than $14.1 million.
- The Village of Milford Center in Union County is the county’s second village to come aboard the Checkbook, and its information includes more than 5,200 individual transactions entailing more than $2.8 million in spending.
Launched in 2014, OhioCheckbook.com became the first resource aiming to make all state spending information available online. There are currently more than 1,100 local government entities on the Ohio Checkbook, and more than 40 have joined since January.
Since its launch, OhioCheckbook.com has garnered the interest of those hoping to learn more about how Ohio’s tax dollars are spent. As of August 2019, there have been more than 1.2 million searches on the site, and the Treasurer’s office continues working with local governments and constituents to leverage the site’s capabilities.
