Treasurer Mandel Kicks Off 2013 Smart Money Choices Conference Series in Columbus
Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s Office hosted the first Smart Money Choices conference of 2013 on Friday, June 28th in Columbus. During the conference, attendees heard presentations on various financial education and planning topics including budgeting, credit and debt, investments, retirement planning, student funding and consumer protection.
Offered for the first time this year was an all-new educator resources course designed to assist teachers with the implementation of the personal finance education requirement. As required by Ohio law, students must graduate high school having received personal finance education during their time in school.
Smart Money Choices is a free, half-day financial planning conference for all Ohioans, presented annually by the Ohio Treasurer’s Office, and supported by a variety of statewide and regional partners. Treasurer Mandel is committed to providing Ohioans with helpful tools to make informed decisions in personal finance.
The conference series, to be held in cities across the state throughout Summer 2013, allows Ohio citizens the opportunity to hear from money management professionals on a variety of financial literacy topics that allow them to make more informed and knowledgeable decisions in their financial lives.
