Treasurer Mandel Hosts Northeast Ohio Smart Money Choices Conference

BRECKSVILLE – Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s Office hosted a Smart Money Choices workshop on Friday in Brecksville.  During the workshop, attendees heard presentations on various financial education and planning topics including budgeting, credit and debt, investments, retirement planning, student funding and consumer protection.

“It is so important for Ohioans in today’s global economy to have the knowledge and resources that allow them to make solid financial decisions for their families,” said Treasurer Mandel. “Our office is proud to put on the Smart Money Choices conferences to help guide Ohioans in smart money management.”

Smart Money Choices is a free, half-day financial planning workshop for all Ohioans, presented annually by the Ohio Treasurer’s Office and supported by a variety of statewide and regional partners.  Friday’s event in Northeast Ohio featured presentations from many financial professionals, including representatives from the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, the Social Security Administration, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Tax and Financial Strategies and Apprisen/CCCS as well as the Treasurer’s Office.  Other organizations such as the Ohio Housing Finance Authority, Ohio Consumers Counsel, the Better Business Bureau and the Small Business Administration hosted tables at the event and provided further financial education resources.

The workshops are held throughout the state, which allows Ohio citizens the opportunity to hear from money management professionals on a variety of financial literacy topics to help them make more informed and knowledgeable decisions in their financial lives.
