TOLEDO - The Glass City is receiving praise for being the largest Ohio city to post their spending repors online for the public to see.
Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel joined city leaders Thursday morning at One Government Center to announce the posting of the 2014 expenditures at OhioCheckbook.com.
Mandel says not only is the city a trendsetter, but that he hopes it encourages other organizations to sign up as well. "It's clear to me the City of Toledo has chosen to be a leader in transparency but for all other cities and counties and schools here in northwest Ohio to get on the bus," Madel said.
Toledo taxpayers are now able to view more than $260 million of spending from 2014, representing more than 60,000 checks written by the city last year.
