Given the number of investment options in the market today it is important for School Business Officials to learn and decipher ever changing economic environment.
J.B. joined Fifth Third Bank in 1996 and worked in the Treasury Department on the Money Market trading desk where he focused on short-term investments for Ohio public entities and managed a $2 Billion overnight Federal Funds position for the entire Bancorp. Mr. Ward has specialized in Institutional Investments for the last 14 years. In this capacity, he has worked on numerous investment portfolios for Ohio schools and public entities. Mr. Ward holds NASD Series 7 and 63 licenses and is registered with the FINRA and Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Securities. Mr. Ward has a B.A. in Psychology from The University of Cincinnati. Mr. Ward serves on various boards including his recent appointment to the Ohio GFOA Education Committee.
Richard has over 18 years of investment management experience. He currently holds the position of Principal, in the Fixed Income Strategy Group at Fifth Third Securities. Richard actively strives to assist clients in assessing their portfolio and risk management needs through various analytical resources and models. Richard also focuses on helping clients with asset/liability issues and strives to provide investment strategies and recommendations to meet all current and proposed industry regulations.
Prior to joining Fifth Third Securities, Richard held the position of Senior Financial Strategist for First Empire Securities. In this capacity, Richard was responsible for reviewing investment portfolios, make adequate recommendations and determine the suitability of existing investment strategies and positions compared to specific risk tolerances and objectives.
Preceding First Empire Securities, Richard held the position of Senior Credit Analyst for the Citigroup Global Transaction Services working with global central banks and other institutions monitoring their risk exposure and investment portfolio needs. Before re-joining the Citigroup network, Richard held the position of Assistant Portfolio Manager for General Electric Asset Management. For nearly four years, he helped manage a $15 billion short duration fixed income portfolio. Richard’s formative years were spent as a Senior Credit Analyst for Smith Barney, where he completed the Smith Barney Credit Training Program.
Richard earned a BA in Finance from Pace University and a MBA from Dowling College. He holds Series 7 & 63 licenses from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. In addition he is a member of the Fixed Income Analysts Society and the Bond Club of New York.
