Target Audiences: School Districts
This course will cover an overview of the elements of the E-Rate program, Category 1 and Category 2 eligible items, and the administrative processes required to obtain funding. It will also review the funding model and how a district can maximize their available dollars for technology and services versus a traditional approach being used in many districts. In conclusion, participants will be provided, as follow-up, their current usage and available funding for the remainder of the current 5-year E-Rate cycle.
The course will provide essential information to the school business officials so they can communicate the qualifying elements of Category 1 and 2 of the Federal E-Rate program, develop a financial roadmap supporting technology and support services strategic plan, and be able to work with district team members to execute the overall administrative processes required to secure funding during the current and future E-Rate cycles. This knowledge will be critical to forecasting and maximizing/leveraging all revenue sources to deliver technology infrastructure and support that positively impacts student education and business operations.
Statement of Accreditation Rationale: Understanding how to effectively leverage available e-rate funding is essential for the School Business Official to strategically maximize overall district funds to provide needed technology and services that will help to deliver student education and effective business operations. This knowledge will assist in budgeting and forecasting revenue utilization.
